It seems that I get asked the question a lot about what are some good books to read in order to help one on their Christian walk. Given the fact that there are so many books out there on a variety of topics that express a certain belief while using the Bible to aid in the support, I thought I would write down a quick list of a dozen or so books that will help you as you wrestle with the Scriptures and walk out your faith.
This list is in no way complete but is only a starting point as we learn and grow in our knowledge of God. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments below.
the list:
Life Together: The Classic Exploration of Faith in Community – by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Mere Christianity – by CS Lewis
Creation Regained: Biblical Basics for a Reformational Worldview – by Albert M. Wolters
Stories with Intent: A Comprehensive Guide to the Parables of Jesus – by Klyne R. Snodgrass
Calvin’s First Catechism: A Commentary, Featuring Ford Lewis Battle’s Translation of the 1538 Catechism – by I. John Hesselink
Arminian Theology: Myths and Realities – by Roger E. Olson
Interpreting Puzzling Texts in the New Testament – by Robert Stein
The Story of Christian Theology: Twenty Centuries of Tradition and Reform – by Roger E. Olson
Jewish New Testament and Jewish New Testament Commentary – by David H. Stern
Understanding the Difficult Words of Jesus: New Insights from a Hebraic Perspective – by David Bivin and Roy Blizzard Jr
A History of Christianity Vols I & II – by Kenneth LaTourette
The Arminian Confession of 1621 – by Mark A. Ellis
Hope these help!
